Duke Paul of Bellatrix from An Tir

Paul Porter is a martial artist who enjoys teaching and exploring the techniques and theory of fighting.  Paul of Bellatrix joined the SCA in 1970, in the kingdom of the West.  He was knighted in 1971, and became a Duke in 1972. He has been teaching fighting almost from the start of his time in the Society. He moved to An Tir in 2012, and now resides in the Principality of Tir Righ.  He still teaches.

 

His favorite swordplay scene is in the film Chushingura (original 47 Ronin film), during the fight to kill Lord Kira.  There is a samurai on a small bridge fighting multiple opponents using the Niten Ichi-ryu style (katana and wakizashi).

KSCA, OP, Premier Member of the Middle Kingdom Order of the Red Company, Baron of the Court and Count of the Middle Kingdom. I started fighting in 1981, squired to Duke Comar gyr Mirand in 1988, was knighted in 1994 and won Crown in October of 2016. I am also a former MK Earl Marshal and active in the marshallate since I received my warrant in 1990. I’ve spent the last 20 years developing better ways to teach fighting technique to maximize the students growth and potential and my methods have fostered two generations of Chivalry. My favorite movie sword fight by a country mile is from “The Great Race” – The Great Leslie (Tony Curtis) throws down with the evil Baron Rolf (Ross Martin) – foil and sabre fighting at its finest.

I joined the SCA in Atenveldt in 1991 and was in armor by May Potrero of that year and fighting pretty much ever since. I have lived in three Kingdoms; Atenveldt, Outlands, and the West. My favorite color is blue and I like to take long walks on the beach. Can never go wrong with the Inigo v. Westley Man in Black cliff top sword fight.

Sir Culann Mac Cianain from West Kingdom

Syr Culann mac Cianain, started fighting in 1993 and squired to Duke Lucan in 2000. He is primarily a glaive fighter though believes a good fighter should be able to pick up any weapon. He was knighted in 2011 and has served the East as a Commander of the North and a 2 time Warlord of the East. In 2017 he moved to the West and currently resides in Oertha
